We started our day in the best way, with the Holy Mass at the Church of Santo Spirito in Sassia in the shadow of St. Peter’s Basilica. This is the church in Rome which most promotes the devotion of The Divine Mercy. All these churches are so generous in letting pilgrims come in to celebrate Mass. The variety of churches truly represents the universal and uniting nature of our Catholic Faith.
After Mass we went to the Vatican Museums. One could really take days to see everything. But in spite of the crowds and all the standing, the museums, which lead to the Sistine Chapel, never fail to satisfy.
Then we made our way into the interior of the Basilica de San Pietro. For those in our group who have never seen it, they are surprised by its actual, enormous size. But they also are amazed at all the symbols of our beautiful faith.
Tomorrow we go to Florence, via Assisi, where I will celebrate Mass.
