Serve - Discipleship starts with serving others
"Put simply, there are two images of the church: a church which evangelizes and goes out of herself" by hearing the word of God with reverence and proclaiming it with faith; and "the worldly church, living within herself, of herself, for herself." Pope Francis
Each one of us has been challenged to realize the grace we have been given and accept responsibility for helping others experience the same grace -- especially the poor, the sick and others left on the margins of society. If Catholics jealously hoard the gift of being loved by God and the joy of salvation, not sharing it with others, "we will become isolated, sterile and sick Christians."
Part of the parish community experience is understanding that we are all called to branch outside our own walls to serve one another. We may do this through sharing the gifts God has given us, through prayer, and through outreach and working toward social justice in our world today.
However you want to get involved, here’s the place to do it—and now’s the time! Learn more about each of these opportunities through the menu at the right.
