Rite of Christian Initiation for ages 7-17
The Sacraments of Initiation are Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. The bishops of the Catholic Church recognize God's profound work in the lives of young people. For this reason we do not rush children through the process of faith discovery nor do parent’s speak on behalf of children who can express their own relationship with God.
For children who are not baptized or are baptized in another faith, the Archbishop of Portland asks that they go through a two year process of faith formation.
At our Lady of the Lake, we ask families to make an appointment with the Director of Faith Formation. At that meeting, together we will lay out an appropriate plan that may include the following:
Year 1 –Participate in the life of the parish through:
Year 2 – Participate in the life of the parish and also attend:
Catholic Children Grades 3-5 who need First Reconciliation & Eucharist
To help your child grow in faith and fully appreciate the Sacraments children in the 3rd grade through 5th grade will participate in Year 2 of the RCIA children's program during the year the program is offered.
This program is only offered when we have groups of non-Catholic children in their 2nd year of preparation. There is no class for the year 2016-17.
