Confirmation

Confirmation is the third Sacrament of initiation for Catholics, following Baptism and First Communion. Often misunderstood as a kind of “Catholic graduation,” Confirmation marks the individual’s new phase into the faith, where they will receive more fully the Holy Spirit, and become a "warrior" for Jesus Christ and the Gospel. We strive to help our youth embrace and live out the doctrines of the Church, make an informed decision to remain Catholic, and commit to an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Details

We're always trying to improve our program, to meet the true needs of our children and their families. The approach this year is to provide a full and varied experience for the youth, where they will learn about, and live out their faith. These are not classes, they are gatherings. There will be a focus on hearing inspiring stories from older teens, worshipping in community, discussing our faith together, and involvement in service projects. Meetings will be from 10:15am-11:05am. Right after our gathering, we will go as a group to the 11:15am Mass to worship together.

We have also decided to ramp up our parent involvement. All the recent research confirms that parents are the primary influence on the child when it comes to passing on the faith. Our program is designed to equip you to do that. There will be 5 parent sessions that you will be required to attend, according to the schedule. In these sessions we will review key aspects of the Catholic faith, and address topical issues that today's youth are facing. These will take place during the same time as the Confirmation gatherings to make your scheduling easier.
